GM5ELEEllie McNeill
My interest in radio began in the 90s after I built a 'crystal' radio kit. I would listen to AM broadcasts from the nearby Westerglen transmitter with it. I later got a scanner and listened to local amateurs on 2m. I was first licensed as an M3 in April 2002 after passing the newly introduced foundation licence. I then passed the (final) RAE in December 2003 and got my M0 call. Since October 2025, my call sign is now GM5ELE. I am a member of the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB). My station is near the town of Falkirk in Scotland's Central Belt. Falkirk sits on the 56N latitude line and lies between Scotland's two main cities, Glasgow and Edinburgh. More information about Falkirk can be found at the Falkirk Local History Society. I am mainly into digimodes and I operate FT8/FT4 using WSJT-X. I like how it cuts through the QRM. I'm registered on Winlink and I take part in the weekly Winlink Wednesday training exercise. The Winlink network is a free service run by volunteers, so please respect it. Use plain-text and limit any attachments to only a few kB in size. I'm active in APRS too and you can send me a text message if you're a licensed amateur. I take part in the weekly APRS Thursday check-in. I'm also interested in ALE. When I'm not operating other modes, I scan and sound on HFN frequencies 7102, 10145.5, 14109, 21096, and 28146. I'm eager to make a contact so try sending me a text message! I am registered on LoTW and Club Log. I also like to collect QSL cards so please send me one via the bureau (or direct). I am not on QRZ, but you can find me in the current RSGB Yearbook (or Callseeker Plus). I don't do eQSL. I hope to work you on the bands some time. 73 DE Ellie
